Y Clwyd (The Bat Roost)

(The Bat Roost) is an energy efficient barn conversion in a rural Welsh village called Ffaldybrennin (The Kings Land), nestled beside the Cambrian Mountain range.

The original L shaped stone barn with timber trusses and Welsh blue slate roof has been carefully restored by local craftsman. A single story garden day room blends feature stone walls and echoes the rusty burnt orange of the replaced Dutch style corrugated steel barn.

The garden day room is designed to entertain on cold rainy days, as well as hot ones.

The original floor at street level was demolished to form a double height dining area and kitchen beneath an open mezzanine. The original barn at higher street level is the sleeping quarters, leaving the southern portion orientating south and into the garden.
